“Both believed THIS was their calling”– Dr. Georgia and Trey Myers are proud graduates of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Trey earned his degree in Biomedical Science in 1976 and Georgia has officially reached 48 years of being a practicing veterinarian. It was evident the two loved being outdoors, but most importantly, they loved each other which allowed their dreams to become a reality.

Trey spent his childhood around his grandparents farm in Lubbock, Texas, but beginning in 1973, the couple desired to one day own a ranch. They both believed this was their calling and in January of 2010, they answered. GEM Cattle Ranch was born in Bronte, Texas! Trey continued to advance in his career to CEO of a large industrial engineering/construction/design firm that required him to complete projects across the United States. Then in 2020, he decided it was time for him to retire and dedicate himself to the ranch full along with his wife. Being part of this community has been a delight and they have been honored to bring their own ideas and dreams to fruition. Adding additional land to the first tranche has enlarged their productivity and ability to raise cattle and started out as a commercial breeder.

Their goals turned towards buying registered Red Angus Cattle for seed stock, which they called “Red Jewels.” Trey has been very conscientious about restoring the land to be more productive with improved grasses and methods of improving the land for both cattle and wildlife. They know there is always room for improvement so they continuously enhance water sources and distribution. Trey raises the forage with progressive processes, and Georgia harvests the forage with the cattle. She enjoys studying the genealogies and EPD of the cattle trying to improve their herd to bring quality, organic beef to the market as well as build a seed stock for the ranch and for private treaty sales using our knowledge and passion for food and for public benefit.

The Myers have always been taught to invest in themselves. Coming from backgrounds of not having much, they were taught if you are going to invest in anything, invest in yourself and you will receive the greatest return. Then– give that away and bless others. Georgia and Trey have been married for 52 years and are the perfect team in this industry.
